WEB ARENA

Overview

If designing runs in your blood, if you believe your skills can put a pro to shame, We at LNMIIT provide you the perfect platform to design our college website and walk away with heaving pockets !!!

'Web Arena' is to be held in 2 rounds -prelims and finals. For the prelims you're required to provide a demo for the website.The finals will involve coding of the home page and a registration module for the courses. The required SRS (Software Requirement Specifications) for the module will be provided for your guidance.

The final winner will be selected by our panel of judges on the basis of most efficient code and designing. Winner of Web-Arena will get to develop/revamp the website of five NGO's associated with Vivacity 2012 and will be awarded a prize money of Rs 1 lac by ArcelorMittal. The contest is open to all college students across the country participants in India. So get your creative juices flowing-and get down to designing!

About Mockups

A wireframe is a visual illustration of one Web page. It is meant to show all of the items that are included on a particular page, without defining the look and feel (or graphic design). It's simply meant to illustrate the features, content and links that need to appear on a page so that your design team can mock up a visual interface and your programmers understand the page features and how they are supposed to work. We prefer balsamiq mockup (http://www.balsamiq.com/products/mockups) , you can download it for a trial of 30days.

Pencil Project: The popular and fairly powerful Pencil Project is a free and opensource Firefox addon tool for making diagrams and GUI prototyping with a multitude of features.
The final mockup and the homepage should be uploaded in a .zip or .rar format.

Guidelines

The following are the guidelines, which all participants must follow to meet the above listed features.
* The design should pass W3C WCAG AAA.
* CSS must be used for both presentation and layout.
* Client side scripting is allowed, but the site must work if it is turned off.

NOTE: Be innovative: You are free to go beyond the stated requirements. Surprise the judges with your creativity. However, cross browser/platform design is of primary importance.

Prize for winner of Web Arena

A contract of Rs 1 lac to develop/revamp website of our partner five NGOs.

Terms and conditions

* Each team/competitor can only submit one design.

* All designs must be an original work of the participant.

* The team should not incorporate more than four members.

* Judges' decisions are final.

* No entries will be accepted after the closing date that is 17th February, 2012.

* First round submission deadline: 17th February, 2012.

* The winner of Web-Arena has to design websites for associated NGOs within a time span of six months after the announcement of winner.

* The website developed by the winner of Web-Arena for associated five NGOs will contain at most eight pages.

* The Winner of Web-Arena will receive the prize money in five installments that is Rs 20,000 after completion of each website.

* The design and the other submitted material of the winner will be the property of The LNMIIT.

Approach

PRELIMS
- Participants are required to submit a basic template of homepage and mock up of entire website.

- The basic template of the home page should be HTML and CSS coded depicting the colour scheme of the website. (For reference about the home page http://lnmiit.ac.in).

- For detailed instructions about the mock-up refer to the 'About Mockups' section.



FINALS
- The finals will involve coding of the registration module for the courses & SRS for the website will be provided at an appropriate time.

- The final winner will be selected by our panel of judges on the basis of most efficient code and designing.

-The final mockup and the homepage should be uploaded in a .zip or .rar format.
